On the sunny side , Cala Llombards

Turquoise blue water, white sand, evergreen pines , why dream, when the small bay of Cala Llombards in the south-east of Majorca actually exists? The beach is 55 metres wide and 150 metres long, with straw parasols for shade and sun loungers for lounging. Rock that frames the bay also offers nice places to retreat in the form of rock plateaus , if you happen to feel like being by yourself and slightly apart from the beach activity.

The bay is sheltered and the waves are small, making it a perfect swimming spot even for families with children. Cala Llombards also boasts the "Blue Flag" seal of approval. The beach shelves gently and the rocky coast guarantees you a snorkelling paradise. And many of the rock ledges seem like they were just designed to be diving boards, should you wish to plunge into the crystal clear Mediterranean waters.

A beach bar keeps beachgoers supplied with snacks, ice-cream and cold drinks. In a nutshell, this is a bay that is cherished by locals, holidaymakers and foreign residents alike. If you come by car, it's good to know that there's a car park by the beach.

You actually have a whole array of beautiful bays spread along Majorca's south coast. Cala Llombards is situated in between Cala Santanyí and Caló d'es Moro. And then you have Caló de Ses Agulles, Cala Mondragó, Caló des Savinar, and plenty more…

A development sprung up in the 1960s in Cala Llombards , with numerous holiday properties, including some very chic holiday chalets. The main village, Es Llombards, is 4.5 kilometres away. But nearby also, you have the cute little town of Ses Salines with the salt pools used for extracting this "white gold", as well as Santanyí with its many and varied shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries and a large Saturday market. Not to mention that golfers can indulge their passion for the game with options such as the 18-hole course at Vall d'Or Golf.
