Playa de Palma is changing

Playa de Palma, up to now seen as a symbol for fairly boisterous holidays, is so much more than just sun, beach and wild parties. In fact, Majorca's most famous tourist hotspot is changing. Adiós Ballermann? Not quite. But in this bay with the 4.6 kilometre long sandy beach sloping gently into the water, four and five-star hotels have now opened their doors to holiday guests. This goes to show that high-quality tourism is finding its way into Playa de Palma, despite its party image. No wonder, because one thing is for certain: the bay with its long beach is absolutely gorgeous. That's true not only in summer, by the way. In the cooler months, it's fantastic for good long beach walks, with the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.

Meanwhile, the bars and restaurants at Playa de Palma are also changing, confidently taking up position in their more sophisticated versions alongside party hotspots such as the resilient "Bierkönig" and the "Megapark". One such example is the cheerful Mediterranean restaurant Ginger Beach on the seafront between beach sections 9 and 10. Another is "Ballermann 6", which has now matured into a much more classy beach bar, "Beach Club Six".

With the "Palma Beach" project, a group of private entrepreneurs has set a goal of upgrading at least part of the Playa. The project includes high-quality leisure programmes and sports events such as yoga courses on the beach and long-distance running events like the "Palma Beach Running Course" , a 10-kilometre run between Club Nautico S’Arenal and Club Nautico Can Pastilla.

In any case, a holiday full of variety at Playa de Palma is guaranteed , and not just for party animals , thanks to the wide range of hotels of different categories, bars, beach clubs, discos, restaurants, boutiques, perfumeries, souvenir shops, supermarkets, etc. And anyone intending to buy a property in Majorca should definitely keep an eye on Playa de Palma.

Can Pastilla

Can Pastilla in the Bay of Palma is in a really great location. The motorway and the airport are nearby, as is Palma. Whenever you feel like some beach time or partying, you have it all right there. There's plenty around for kids too, such as Aqualand El Arenal or the Palma Aquarium, which has sharks.

Coll d'en Rabassa

Coll d'en Rabassa

Coll d'en Rabassa has an important neighbour, namely Son Sant Joan Airport. For frequent flyers, this south-east district of Palma, not even six kilometres from the city centre, may thus be an interesting location for a property in Majorca. And Cala Gamba provides a beach for bathing right on the doorstep.

Portixol

Portixol was once a fishing village, and now this district of Palma is a combination of traditional Majorcan and trendy. It is both village and urban at the same time. Just a few years ago, there were only inconspicuous houses crouching behind the promenade, but Portixol has now developed into an exciting, hip neighbourhood.
