Cala Vinyes
Cala Vinyes: palm grove on a white beach
Between Magaluf, Son Ferrer and Sol de Mallorca on the south-west coast of Majorca, you'll find the small holiday resort of Cala Vinyes , also sometimes called Cala Vinyas or Cala Viñas. It belongs to the municipality of Calvià. To accommodate guests, there are a few hotels, several property complexes with apartments as well as holiday homes available. Off-season, visitors enjoy the peace and quiet. On-season, they particularly enjoy the little sandy beach. Platja de Cala Vinyes is just 80 metres wide and 60 metres long, but its palm grove provides a touch of tropical atmosphere.
01When the water is a dazzling turquoise
For beach-worshippers who don't want to overdo the sunbathing, you can hire a sun lounger under a straw beach umbrella. Or you could simply enjoy the shade beneath the palm fronds...relaxing on your own beach towel, drinking in the sight...of the dazzling sea of shimmering turquoise water before you.
02Beach bar for a little snack
For children, the shallow waters and calm sea make it ideal for them to romp around freely. To make their happiness absolutely complete, there's even a playground where they can let off steam at the back of the beach. Should you feel like a snack or refreshment from time to time, you have the little Chiringuito Cala Vinyes at your service right on the sand. And if you fancy a change of beach, you can always head over to Cala Falcó or Cala del Mago, which means the magician's cove. Both of them are south of Cala Vinyes.
03It was long, long ago
Golfing enthusiasts can play either on the Santa Ponça golf courses or on the course at T Golf & Country Club. This is only a stone's throw from Cala Vinyes and, on the way there, you can get a glimpse of prehistory. Basically, some road construction workers who were excavating west of Cala Vinyes in the 1960s came across an archaeological site from the Bronze Age. The name: Naveta Alemany. The age: about 3,000 years old. You can visit the site , a great opportunity to dip into the fascinating history of the island of Majorca!
