Magaluf
Holiday hotspot Magaluf
Sun, sand and boisterous partying...Magaluf is a magnet for holidaymakers and is especially popular with young Britons. They have a whale of a time in the pubs, at the fish-and-chip stalls and on the long beach lined with numerous tourist hotels. The Playa de Magaluf , 1.6 kilometres of beach , is one of the longest in the municipality of Calvià! If you think the big Majorca party scene is found only at "Ballermann" in Playa de Palma, you mustn't be familiar with Magaluf's party strip, Punta Ballena. Revellers party the night away in the numerous bars and nightclubs, and many a drink is quaffed into the wee hours of the morning. And Magaluf also happens to have the biggest disco on the island , BCM Mallorca. It should be opening again soon.
01Classy beach clubs
It's also a lively scene on Magaluf's seafront promenade and in classy restaurants like the Niki Beach Club. Here, guests may well treat themselves to a few glasses of champagne, perhaps accompanied by fresh oysters or carpaccio of red gambas , the deep-sea shrimp from Sóller. Also very stylish are the Zhero Boathouse, with a chill-out area and pool, and the Folies Beach Club Calvià, which provides Balinese beds for your relaxation. And many a cocktail is mixed at the Daiquiri Palace.
02For adrenalin junkies
However, that's only one side of Magaluf , because the place offers children and young people a couple of tremendously fun attractions that combine the adventure factor and the scare factor. You'll find the Western Water Park on the road to Port Adriano. While some visitors to the water park swan around the pools comfortably on flashy swim rings, the courageous have fun on the "Boomerang". Daredevils brace themselves for the pure thrill of descending from a height of 15 metres before finishing up in the water. And then, there is "El Látigo" (meaning "the whip"), with fairly fast and furious bends descending downwards into a pool!
Another option in the area is the karting track, providing future Hamiltons and Schumachers with the experience of exhilarating racing on asphalt. At Karting Magaluf, even small children can get in a kart. And there is a "driving course" for kids of eight years and upwards so they can train as kart drivers.
03A topsy-turvy world
Ranging from the magical to the exciting, Katmandu Park draws visitors with its imaginative fairy-tale characters and legends, as well as its nightmarish zombies and the "Machinarum" , in which a completely insane professor invites you for an adventure amidst hot steam, sinister machines and an out-of-control robot. A further thrill is ensured by the upside-down Katmandu House, which has unceremoniously been stood on its head. Visitors immerse themselves in a world containing a maze of mirrors, enchanted forests and ice caves complete with a yeti. It's completely true to their slogan: "Where reality is just an illusion!" This is an experience for the whole family. Katmandu Park has been rated as one of the best theme parks in Majorca.
04International school
Meanwhile, you have the school "Baleares International College" ready and waiting to prepare your youngsters for the more serious side of life. This is an institution to which foreign residents with their own property in Majorca are keen to send their children.
05Pirates Adventure for the grown-ups
If grown-ups fancy a pirate experience, they need look no further than the "Pirates Adventure" dinner/theatre show. This includes dining along with a show full of breathtaking acrobatic stunts, fire-eaters wearing harem pants and one-eyed pirates armed with swords, who take care of everything…
06Water sports, golf, pure enjoyment
Magaluf offers all kinds of water sports activities , such as swimming, snorkelling, diving, surfing, standup paddleboarding and boating. And if you need a bit of a Robinson Crusoe feeling, you could strike out for the island off the coast, Sa Porrassa. Golfers can tee off on the 18-hole course at the T Golf & Country Club. Built in 1978 and renovated a while ago, it is one of the most mature golf courses in Majorca. It features wide fairways, massive pine trees and 15 lakes, and runs 6,450 metres through a hilly Mediterranean landscape. You may have creatures for company here at times, because the birdlife is colourful and diverse. In the vicinity, you may see Indian runner ducks, coots, stilts, stonechats, kites and hawks. The golf clubhouse , built in the style of a hacienda , not only has a large outdoor terrace but also a rooftop terrace, from which you have a view across the course and all the way to the Tramuntana mountains. And the nearby bay of Cala Mago gives you the perfect way to end your day of golf with a glorious dip in the water.
