Camp de Mar
Camp de Mar has a certain je ne sais quoi
Camp de Mar in the south-west of Majorca is coming to life right now in a way that's just perfect. If you happen to be looking for a property of your own on the sunny island, you should keep a good eye on this little bay between Cap Andritxol and Cap d'es Llamp. This beach resort has got a lot going on! If you come as a holiday guest, you could book into one of the hotels right by the sea, for example, where you have 11,000 square metres of beach bliss to be enjoyed , the Platja de Camp de Mar.
01Water as smooth as glass
Measuring 180 metres long and 60 metres wide, this family beach is equipped with sun loungers, parasols, showers and disabled access. Parents can rest easy while their children romp around here to their hearts' content. The water at the shore is shallow and usually smooth as a millpond in summer because of the sheltered location. There are also lifeguards keeping an eye on the bathers.
02Snorkelling as and when you please
If you fancy snorkelling, you can best see the colourful activities of the fish over by the rocks that border the bay, where the marine life is especially lively. And it's not just the main beach that's great for swimming and snorkelling , its little companion beach right next door, Platja de ses Dones, is not to be scoffed at either, although it is rocky underfoot in places.
If you feel like changing your vantage point and stepping across the water without getting your feet wet, that's an option too. A wooden bridge leads from the beach to a mini-island just offshore, where you'll find the restaurant Illeta.
03All aboard!
Pleasure boats dock in Camp de Mar too, allowing you to explore the surroundings on board a vessel. These include glass-bottom boats, so that you can look down and observe the underwater environment from above. Or would you prefer to go off and do your own thing, using pure muscle power? Then you could just hire a little pedal boat on the beach…
04Up into the mountains
Keen hikers can set out from Camp de Mar on trips through the beautiful landscape of Majorca. You have mountains right outside the door here , the Muntanyes de Biniorella. And the Tramuntana mountain range, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Natural Site since 2011, is only the proverbial stone's throw away.
05A golfer's paradise
Having said all that, what would Camp de Mar be without the Golf de Andratx golf course and the wonderful Restaurant Campino? This 18-hole course with its olive and almond trees has really made a name for itself. Not surprisingly, because it's certainly a cracker. This is considered to be one of the most challenging courses in the Balearic Islands and it draws golfers from far afield. The sixth hole, for instance, has been given the special moniker "Green Monster". At 609 metres, it is the longest par 5 in Spain. Would it be an exciting challenge to conquer the green monster? Not just that, it's a sporting legend! The eighth hole rewards you later with a fantastic view of the bay at Camp de Mar.
06Bellissimo!
As part of Golf de Andratx, you will discover the Restaurant Campino. Should you stop off here for refreshment, you'll feel it immediately , the Italian way of life and warmth of spirit. You can sit out on the sun terrace, indulging in culinary delights from Bella Italia. From here, you have a premier seat to watch the activities of the golfers at the 18th hole. You feel like you're in heaven.
07A home in Majorca
In a nutshell, just four kilometres from Andratx, Camp de Mar is an excellent location for those who are used to gracious living. It's a great mixture , vibrantly international in summer, peaceful and quiet in winter. And there's very good news for anyone looking to buy a property in Camp de Mar. The supply and range available is expanding all the time, so if you were interested in property here, you could very soon be the owner of an elegant Majorcan home.
