Peguera
Sunshine destination Peguera
Peguera or Paguera is extremely popular with the international community , and especially with Germans. Fans of Majorca love spending their holidays here , and they love living here... very often in their own properties. It has lots of appeal, this family-friendly seaside resort with the Mediterranean atmosphere, located on the coast of Calvià municipality, between Costa de la Calma and Camp de Mar. And its history as a tourist spot in the south-west of Majorca goes back about 100 years. The first hotels here were built back in the 1920s.
01Sheer bathing pleasure
Palmira, Torà and La Romana , these are the melodious names of Peguera's beaches, which are connected by a promenade. What a feeling...walking barefoot along by the sea, finding yourself a little spot in the sun and then plunging into the cerulean blue water for a refreshing dip. Playa Palmira, the largest of the three beaches, and Playa Torà are separated from each other by a rocky protrusion. All of the beaches are extremely suitable for families with children and there are lifeguards keeping a watchful eye on the bathers. Other fun water activities are available too, of course. Do you fancy some surfing, sailing, standup paddleboarding, pedal boating, snorkelling, diving...? Off you go!
02Strolling in Peguera
Peguera has about 4,000 inhabitants. Once you know the one-way system, you can find your way around in no time. The construction of a bypass has considerably reduced the volume of traffic within the locality. And the central Bulevar de Peguera, near the beach, has been transformed from a through road into a pretty boulevard. With multiple facets, this is the pulse and heart of the resort. Boutiques, souvenir shops, perfumeries, beachwear stores, shoe and handbag shops, supermarkets, numerous bars, cafés, restaurants and beach clubs such as the "Mar y Mar" , it's anything but boring! In the evenings, the pedestrians take over the Bulevar!
03Exploring the surrounding area
If you'd like to take some little excursions, Camp de Mar or Cala Fornells with the impressive architecture of Pedro Otzoup make interesting destinations west of Peguera. The inland countryside offers charming options for hiking and cycling trips, perhaps to Es Capdellà, which has an enchanting location at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains. Peguera is not remote by any means. It has an excellent transport infrastructure and is linked to the Ma-1 motorway, which runs from Palma to Andratx. There are also numerous bus connections, including services to the Balearic capital city of Palma de Mallorca, 24 kilometres away. For any health matters, there is a German medical specialist centre on hand in Peguera, and it's oriented to the international community. Golfers can improve their handicap on the golf courses in Santa Ponça or Golf de Andratx. And you'll find the tennis enthusiasts playing at Peguera's Tennis Centre.
